THE NITTY GRITTY (Pre-Trip Checklist)

You are required to purchase your fishing license ahead of time, BEFORE, your guided fly fishing trip. Colorado West Slope Fly Fishing does not sell licenses. Colorado State Fishing Licenses are available from Colorado Parks and Wildlife. We cannot take you out on a trip without a fishing license!

Simply call 1-800-244-5613 or visit https://www.cpwshop.com/purchaseprivilege.page  From the drop-down menu that says Big Game and Turkey, choose Fishing. Save your Temporary Authorization Number (TAN) in your phone or simply write it down and keep it on-person while fishing. Choose ‘Home Delivery’, and your proof of purchase is all you need.

All fishing licenses require your valid state-issued federal ID and your social security number. Every angler who is 16 years or older is required to obtain a license to fish in Colorado. Non-US-residents must provide their passport and I-9 Visa information. Depending on the location of your guided trip, you may be required to purchase a valid Colorado State Parks pass for entry to meet your guide.

Guiding is a service industry, and cash gratuities are appreciated by our guides. Tips are typically 20%-30%, and planning ahead to bring the right amount of cash will be appreciated by your guide (especially if you have a great time).
